2024 SAP Best Run Awards – A Small Venue Challenge
Balancing the need for an impressive set design while retaining valuable audience capacity in smaller venues presents an exciting creative challenge.
For the second year AVE® helped deliver the SAP Best Run Awards at Pier One Sydney Harbour, Autograph Collection. With a new venue came new challenges.
For this event we used our new ground supported Freedom Modular Rigging System with Astera AX1 Pixeltubes and Martin Mac Aura XBs on top of narrow Megadeck stage sections. In the tight space with 150 attendees this proved to be the perfect combination, creating a compact, bespoke stage design all while leaving more room for guests.
To accommodate the low ceilings in the pre/post function area we developed a slimline rigging solution to hang 12 artworks. Lightweight Astera AX3 Lightdrop were easily mounted as downlights to illuminate the pieces. This setup provided a simple and effective solution to match the space requirements without detracting from the artwork displays.
Overall, a great result with a happy client and a reminder that when it comes to smaller venues, sometimes less is more!
